Airfoil：iTunes以外のアプリでAirTunesを使えるように

iTunesのサウンドを無線LANで飛ばせるAirMac Expressの機能「AirTunes」、確かに便利なんだろうけど、「iTunes専用」の機能。でも、それ以外のソフトからこのAirTunesを使えるようにするシェアウェア・ユーティリティーがAirfoil。オーディオ用ユーティリティーAudio Hijackなどを出しているRogue Amoebaから配布開始されたね。

僕自身はまだAirMac Expressを持っていないんだけど（我が家のBase StationはAirMac Extreme）、AirTunes機能はスゴく気になっていたんだ。DVD PlayerやQuickTimeなどのメディアプレーヤーのサウンドも飛ばせるなら面白いかも…って。で、Eisuke@掲載のエントリを見る限りでは映像と音声にタイムラグが出てしまうらしく、Airfoilを使うとしたら、音声オンリーの用途で…っていうコトになりそうなのがちょっと残念。

Airfoilページに書いてあった面白い使い方としては、iTunes用プラグイン「Volume Logic」の効果を適用した状態で、オーディオをAirTunesで飛ばす…っていうモノ…AirTunesで飛ばすと、その効果は普通はバイパスされてしまうみたい。Airfoil、アイデア次第では面白く使えるツールかもしれないね。
